BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE
For a country of India’s geographical size and population, basic infrastructure counts as one of the natural problem areas.
The facilities haven’t kept pace with the superfast industrialisation of the cities. While the newly built-up residential and office areas have been stretching the city limits continuously, power, water, roads and other facilities have fallen behind. The states need comprehensive planning to make basic infrastructural facilities compatible with the growth patterns.
In the rural areas, there are villages which are still untouched by electricity and proper roads and houses. Unless the poorest of poor in these rural pockets in every state enjoy the fruits of progress, India’s growth story will remain incomplete.
Some of the parameters considered here are pucca roads, power, housing and telecommunication.
